Every day I will have someone ask me, “What is the difference between an Osteopath, Physiotherapist and Chiropractor?”

Osteopaths, like Physiotherapists and Chiropractors, are university trained and skilled manual therapists. Osteopaths are skilled in the treatment and rehabilitation of many everyday injuries, such as a sore back, tightness in the shoulders or migraines. Osteopaths utilize techniques such as adjustments (joint manipulation), soft tissue massage, stretching and mobilisation to help the body overcome injury.

What makes a good practitioner is these four principles; providing our patients with an understanding of their injury and how it occurred, the use of hands on treatment to address tight muscles and stiff joints, education and advice on how to manage their injury (heat vs. ice, stretching, what to avoid) and a plan or expectation of how their injury will play out and how long they might expect it to take for tissues to completely heal

Osteopaths commonly treat injuries such as neck and back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, hip pain, rotator cuff injuries and many other sporting injuries

If you are unsure about Osteopathy and whether it can help you, my advice would be to make an appointment and see if it resonates with you. Many people love what we are about and find it helpful whenever they find themselves in the unfortunate situation of injury!
