Find Your Stress Reliever!
If you are like me and occasionally come home from work feeling tense and stressed – your not alone 🙂
Recent research from Medibank Australia revealed that stress peaked in 2017, with the number of Australians affected rising from 3.7 million in 2007-08 to 4.9 million in 2016-17.Â
The major contributor to stress was lack of sleep. I think most of us could relate to this. Stress can also develop from increased demands at work, inappropriate deadlines and bullying or harassment within the workplace.
Commonly, people will hold their stress in their neck and shoulders or lower back. This might present itself as tightness and aching in these areas, or difficulty concentrating on tasks at work.Â
It is important to identify these signs and act on them before they turn into something more – like a headache!
My tip to those who often suffer with stress at work is to find something in your life that puts you in a state of euphoria. What is it that you enjoy most? It might be a walk around the park after work, a coffee date with friends, a play in the park with a pet or going out to the movies to watch a new film.
For me, it’s getting out and having a hit of golf!
Whatever it is, find your stress reliever and utilise it to improve your mental health, because our mental health is just as important (if not more) than our physical health.
